About Element Skateboards

Element Skateboards (originally called Underworld Element Skateboards) is a skateboard manufacturer based in Irvine, California. The company was founded in 1992 by Johnny Schilleriff as a collaboration called Underworld Element Skateboards. The struggling company was later absorbed by Schilleriff and the "Underworld" portion of the name dropped. Element Skateboards sponsors Hunter Kreck, Brent Atchley, Bucky Lasek, Chad Muska, Chad TimTim, Darrell Stanton, Jeremy Wray, Levi Brown, Mike Vallely, Ray Barbee, Tony Tave, Vanessa Torres, Bam Margera, John Levesque. Element Skateboards portrays itself as active in eco-friendly endeavors, community causes and attempts to raise awareness of environmental causes through its "Power to the Planet" initiative. Element Skateboards has been called the "world's leading skateboard company" by the New York Daily News.

About Tosh Townend - Element Skateboards Pro

Tosh Townend (born March 12, 1985) is a Element Skateboards professional skateboarder from Huntington Beach, California. He turned pro at the age of 16. Tosh Townend got sponsored by Element Skateboards when he was 11, and was on the team until 2008. Tosh Townend's father is Australian Peter Townend, the 1976 surfing world champion. His father would have boards around the house and would let Tosh ride them. Tosh first followed his father's footsteps and surfed. He started surfing in the National Scholastic Surfing Association when he was seven years old and became the NSSA Junior Middle School California Champion in 1996. However, when Peter was working at Rusty, Tosh started skateboarding more and at 11, he won the California Amateur Skateboard League in the 11 and under division, and at 12, the 14 and under division. These wins, and the sponsorships that followed, propelled him into his professional skateboarding career with Element Skateboards.

About Medium Concave

This Element Skateboards deck has a medium concave which means the curvature from edge to edge is inbetween the shallow concave and deep concave. Found on most skateboards the medium concave make for a good all round skateboard. Since the depth of the concave seem to feel deeper as the deck increases in width, medium concaves are a good choice for decks over 7.75 inches in width.

About Element Skateboards Siamese Construction

With Element Skateboards Siamese Construction “There’s never a wrong way”. Siamese decks are symmetrically correct skateboard shapes made with Zen board construction. Zen board construction uses continuous arcs in the concave so boards don’t have any flat points or harsh lines, they also have a symmetrical nose and tail angle. Element Skateboards Siamese shapes were designed so that the nose and tail are identical. Siamese boards are always facing the right way. Switch or regular, forwards or backwards, with Element Skateboards Siamese shapes and Zen board construction, you get equal performance no matter which way you’re riding.

About Wheel Base

The wheelbase of a skateboard deck is the distance from one pair of inner truck mounting holes to the other inner pair. The average wheelbase is 13"-15" and is determined by the type of skateboarding the deck is designed for, a shorter wheel base increase maneuverability while longer wheelbases have improved stability. A 14" wheelbase is standard for street skating decks, they have better maneuverability than pool, vert and longboard skateboards which require longer wheelbases to help improve their stability at higher speeds.
